The story of Job Qualified begins over 10 years ago, when I too was a contractor.

I started my own painting business at 18 years old while I was in university with the goal of paying off my tuition. I wasn’t just painting walls. I was responsible for everything: Finding work, managing crews, keeping clients happy, ensuring jobs stayed profitable and fixing problems when things went sideways. Somewhere in the middle of all that, I was also responsible for safety.

I didn’t care about safety because someone told me I had to. I cared because it was my crew. I cared about making sure they had the right equipment, that they knew how to properly anchor the harness, that the right PPE was worn, and contaminants were disposed properly. If someone got hurt on my watch, that was on me. I took that very seriously.

So when I say I understand contractors, I really mean it. I know what it’s like to have a never ending to-do list and still be expected to deal with stacks of paperwork after a 12 hour day. I also know that the last thing you have time for is chasing down documents, decoding vague requirements, or resubmitting programs that keep getting rejected.

Later in my career, I moved fully into safety and eventually worked at ISN. That experience changed everything.

I helped thousands of contractors across the US and Canada get onboarded and qualified. I also saw plenty of the opposite... Lots of good companies held off site, unable to work just because of paperwork issues. Their crews sitting at home or stuck in the truck. So many Jobs delayed and thousands of dollars lost. It was really sad to witness.

The worst part was that it wasn't because they were unsafe. It was because they didn't have the support or their documentation didn’t meet expectations.

That never sat right with me.

Contractors care about safety. That has never been the problem.

The problem is that access to work should not be blocked by unclear requirements, a lack of operational history, or documents that don’t reflect how contractors actually operate. Its totally possible for a company to be safe, but not compliant, and vice versa. Is that fair?

Job Qualified was born out of that belief.

After leaving ISN, someone from my church reached out to me. He was a contractor, struggling with his account, overwhelmed, and just needed help. I wasn't interested in charging anything, I just wanted to help him out. I quickly stepped in and got him qualified promptly. Then another contractor reached out. Then another and another.

What I kept seeing was the same pattern. Contractors were working hard, doing things right, but losing time and money trying to translate their real-world safety practices into something these platforms would accept.

So I decided to build something that actually solves that problem.

I bring both sides of the experience. I am a Canadian Registered Safety Professional (CRSP). I have spent 5+ years helping clients and contractors with setting up and meeting requirements. Our team understands the tools, the expectations, and how to optimize your profile to get the highest grade possible. But more importantly, we still think like a contractor.
